I'm going to make a button for the irc channel soon. If there is bugs can you guys post on the forums. There is so much activity on the irc it's hard for us to monitor everything. Thanks you guys

another suggestion i can give you is to get skype and set up a voice account... or setup a mumbles server which is free it has both chat and voice built into it.

Skype isn't as open. Are you talking about dedicated support?

Im waiting to see if i get a free beta key at the moment but if i dont im so buying this game. I tried the demo the otherday and played the whole thing none stop xD. The kind of thing these people are doing here is something i would like to do later on in like as in september i start my advanced extended diploma in IT and Games so hopefully ill be on my way

Good to hear you're enjoying the demo, however this is the wrong topic to post under and unfortunate for you the beta is being sold with the pre-order of the final release on impulse currently, so you will not get a free key at all. I wish you the best of luck in your diploma, however I discourage you to set your sights as high as this as I know the course you're going on ( I have a friend taking it) and it does NOT cover enough of programming languages and game mechanics to produce a full game good enough for retail, but I do recommend you look into teaching yourself C/C++ and a game engine of your choice during your eduction.

If your diploma can get your foot in the door at a games company, then it is a good move. For Richard and I to get to the point where we could build SPAZ, it took many years in the industry, getting various levelups.

It can be a really great life, but there is also a lot of creative stress. It is important to pick out what your focus will be early on, and over time you will end up either becoming a guru in one discipline (not great for creating a games company) or you will become more of a generalist (Richard and I) where we have less experience than experts in each sub component of game development, but we are able to achieve multiple goals effectively enough to get our vision completed.

If you want to get into game design, I suggest getting scripting work. A knowledge of coding is important, but you also have a lot of control over the gameplay in your assigned areas. It is kind of a coder/designer hybrid role.

I don't know if anything there made too much sense, but in short. If you like making games, go for it. I started in IT just to get my foot in the door. The most important part is getting inside the building.

is the irc up and ok? i keep geting a "(You are banned)" message and i dont rember receveing or saying anything that i shuld have been baned for

I tried to start up a conversation but no one was talking out of the apparently 20 people online.

I tried it and it seems to be okay. Are you still getting this error? Do you get error if you sign in with different name?

Be specific. Are you G|K-lined, can't connect to the server, can't join the channel and so on.
If you have an error message or some output that you can paste here, that would help us get you sorted out.

thats all the info im geting i have tryed with different names and get the same thing

i can conect to quakenet and join/create other channels just carnt join #spaz

Ok, You're likely just on the same subnet as one of the past offenders. I cleared the subnet bans. So if you're still banned, you're prob supposed to be. lol

I digress, you should now be able to join the channel.

Meaning one of two things (if you are still banned)

1) Someone used your IP and joined and got banned

2) You joined on with another Alias, and got banned on that alias, and are banned trying other alias'

1) No. I don't ban IP's. Most providers use DHCP to assign IP addresses. Then there are large networks where a single IP is the exposed address to 1000's of machines (NAT, proxy, VPN, etc).

2) No. Banning a nickname is about pointless.

3) Yes. If they break the rules when they come back after a ban removal I'll just re-add it

If I actually need to ban someone, it's subnet's that I ban. So I'm broad sweeping in my bans. Individual bans, well. They'll join the channel and the bot will deal with them. Which is something else I need to take a min on and fix/update. <.<

must have just been the subnet coz i know i havent done anything worth a ban unless being afk for hours counts but then half the people there would have been
