I bet you've been where there used to be a mining base and you went "Ah. Damn. I shouldn't have blown up that mining base!"
After which (depending if you had a mod that allows for the use of ctrl+S) you spawned a dredge mining base to work that asteroid again.

Noticed that doesn't work fast enough? Want a BIGGER Dredge base?
You want the MASTER dredge Base?

Now here it is! ready and available!

8 Huge mining turrets!
4 Large double mount turrets on the "Ring" (same as normal dredge)
8 Small defense turrets!
1 Large Drone bay (same as normal dredge)
8 Large tractor beams! (should be 16, but the total is 29 linkpoints now :cry: )

Also includes heavily re-optimized link points and collision points.

Available for your spawning pleasure via ctrl+s!

This base will be available within BigBeef soon, but for now grab your Master Dredge base here!

PS.
Best use is when you remove that "pesky" CIV mining base first and then spawn this as a pirate factioned base.
Any rez collected by it then doesn't needs to be sent to the beacon! ;)

you do not know the number of times I have spawned a mothership just to collect rez for me.

By the way! What mechanic is used to root ships and bases at specific points on the map?

For example, spawning stuff in while in a Civ-Base-Area will spawn them on top of the Civ Base.

The clockwork will also always be rooted in place near a specific point, and be pulled back if it gets too far (noticed thanks to the Insanity mod: Inertial CW engines)

And spawning a mothership in free roam will make it follow you, so i assume the Mothership is intended to behave like a ship, but rooted in place.


Any clarification on these things?

From the amount of times I have spawned stuff in the various maps, I have come to the conclusion that it's the CENTER of the map.
I might be wrong, but it's (close to) always the point where stuff gets spawned.

Exactly. The "Center of the map" as you call it is where the Bases spawn (Civ, UTA or Bounty) and is where the ships pop in if you spawn them.

The beacon is always between that point and the edge of the map that is closest to the Mothership Hideout.

I like the way the ships are always sent in from the direction they are actually coming from-- the mothership.

Minor cosmetic update and some preparation for the future.

As you see the ring is more "on top" and 4 EXTRA turret holders!

Total list of future capability's:
- 5 or 6 Large/huge Drone bays at the center (1 in the dead center for now)
- 8 Huge mining turrets (maybe 8 huge Double huge turrets?)
- 8 Large Double mount turrets on the ring (now just 4 )
- 8 small Defense turrets (no need for a change here)
- 16 (or 32!) large/huge tractor beams (now still only 8)

This would total somewhere between 45 and 62 linkpoints!

Next update would most likely be fiddling with all the doodad stuff and maybe(?) some customized wreckage data and stuff. :o :shock:
You only need to grab the current updated Master Dredgebase mod if you want to appreciate the improved looks.
Codewise nothing has changed (yet)

Wait, if dredge base can be used to collect items, does that mean a deployable base (Also known at Deployed turrets) equiped with tractors could collect res/crew etc?

Actually Nekora, deployable turrets ingame already do this, but they have incredibly poor range.

Will you update the Big Beef mod?(rolepaying as UTA member)

(Edit: I meant update the Big Beef mod with the update for this mod since this mod is in big beef and it got an update, you know what I am trying to say.)

So yah, turns out you can ad a tractorbeam remote turret. Works perfectly now to add a huge mining laser + tractor lol

The updated art is already in big beef. ;)

I was just to lazy to make a post about it (again) that it got a rather VERY minor update.
(it's only the art asset that got an update)

Let's just say that if I am going to make a "minor" update to either the Master Dredge Base mod OR the Quad Turret mod, you'd need to check those topics for any update text, while Big Beef just gets updated.

If I'm going to make an update on Big Beef however (you know, better linkpoint work etc.) I WILL however update that info.

There isn't much need to update two threads for one minor update. ;)

If you check the post where I've showed the cosmetic update you will see below the picture the amount of tractor beams that this baby is going to get AFTER that pesky 29 linkpoint max issue is resolved. ;)

I'm also thinking of adding a secondary "ΓΌber" mining station that's a tad smaller in design, but more optimized in Cracking asteroids and gobbling up all that rez. (e.g. pretty much all miningbeams and tractors)
But that's gonna be an artistic challenge first. (and I stink in creating 100% fresh art)

If you don't mind deployable by ctrl+s then it's very much easy to do. (After I made that damn art :x )
If you want it as a deployable turret like dropped entity...... :o :shock: :? ehm. That will require some looking into it. Although I think it's doable.

I could do it. but im too lazy. look in ship hulls folder, then lok in "turret hulls" thats where the turret needs to be designed, and then look into(i think?) weapons datablocks for the rest.

What do you get when drunken Mining engineers have spare Base parts and 5 Grinders they can't really use?

This puppy has.
6 Large Drone bays! (2 fighter, 2 zapper, 2 Civ{stations only})
5 Huge Mining Turrets
5 Large Defense Turrets
10 Large Tractor Beams

You can Select it with CTRL+S just below OutpostBase.

For now only available in this mod (Download @ 1st post).
But this only means that it's inclusion into BigBeef will take about an hour or two (tops :P ).

Oh before I forget. There's a piece of interesting code for within the GrinderBase Hull data.

this sounds stupid but o well being my first post and all

is there a reason when I spawn the base that it doesn't spawn by the asteroid instead it spawns half way across the map by the beacon?

Yes, because the Beacons/Stations always spawn at the center of space, so even if you spawn a million stations, they will all be spawned in the exact same coordinates.

Do you have problems with other mods too?
Try downloading/running it in a different folder(non-windows-protected is recommended).
Also try opening the archive as an administrator.

Where are you trying to extract it to? You may be trying to extract the files into a protected area. Try extracting them at the same location as the RAR file (so in this case, your Downloads folder)
