So after hearing good things I thought I'd play!!

Unfortunately, the game is unplayable for me. Even the initial splash window is.. "juddery", my mouse moves normally but pauses every half a second or so for a few milliseconds....

Its hard to explain :s

Ingame is even worse.

Computer spec:

I7 920 @3.5ghz
ATI 7970
12gb ram

Don't suppose there are known issues with the 7970 or something? I know it's still new and has it's own special drivers etc atm....

Sorry you are having issues.

Try following this post and let me know if the canvas.cs fix helps you out at all.

Thanks!!

In the good news, the game now runs perfectly!

In bad news, there seems to be another bug whereby a time dilation field is activated when I play the game and it's now gone midnight and I have work tomorrow :(

I demand compensation for my impending lack of sleep!

All good games have this bug. The source is inconclusive.

I'm having the same issue with a 7970. The game worked perfectly last time I played it, about a month ago with my GTX570.

I'm looking through that thread you linked now for that fix, hopefully it will work for me as well.

If you try to run in DirectX compatibility mode this should resolve. A recent video driver patch caused some problems with openGL. DirectX mode is bottom left tickbox in launcher.

I've run into this problem as well with all the 7970 drivers I could find. (8.921.2 RC11, 12.2 pre-certified, 12.2 release)

DX compatibility mode crashes at my monitors resolution (2560x1600), reports a max resolution of 1680x1050, but then runs fine at 1920x1200?

there is no stuttering in compatibility mode, but running at non-native resolution on my LCD doesn't look very good. Is there any way to make it run at 2560x1600?

Hmm. we will have to look into the directX higher res issue, but that will take time and testing. In the mean time, if you run in windowed mode and select a custom res that you like (and capture the mouse to the window) it should give you pixel to pixel gfx and run well.

Sorry for the issue :(

Can you give more information on this?

recent video driver patch for ... SPaZ? AMD Catalyst? Which driver version introduced OGL problems?

Which video cards are affected by the problem?

Also, are you saying that if I follow the solution to canvas.js like posted above, the situation won't resolve itself?

Thanks, and if you ever need hardware to test on I'll volunteer my 7970 or any of my other many GPU's and CPU's ;)

*edit* I just saw your post about the AMD Catalyst driver causing problems, so disregard my questions above!
If you look here, there is a new AMD driver that only lists OpenGL as a new version number: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=360108

I'll install it and see.

I am also having this frame rate problem with an AMD card.

Specs:
6970 crossfire (problems when only using 1 card as well)
resolution: 2560x1440
Catalyst version 12.3; OpenGL version 6.14.10.11554

The DirectX compatibility mode seems to fix it, and will have to try upping the windowed resolution until a fix is found.

Can't wait to play the expansion, thanks MINMAX!

Radeon user here as well (5770). I was getting this problem today too, but it seemed like that canvas.cs fix did the trick for me.

Oddly, SPAZ only does run on one core, but there may be something in the driver portion that is trying to multi thread. I have talked to AMD and their next patch will resolve the issue, but it will be a couple of months unfortunately. In the mean time, the DX mode or the core trick should work.
