As the title says, I've been experiencing freezing at random while playing SPAZ. I'll be playing, and with no rhyme or reason, it'll lock up completely. The music will play for a split second longer and stutter after it freezes before going silent, and then I'm forced to reboot the computer. It worked perfectly fine for the first one or two days I played the game, and then just started freezing intermittently. Sometimes it'll happen within an hour of starting the game, and other times it'll go for multiple hours flawlessly.

Here's what I'm running it on:
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core processor @ 3.6 GHz
8 GB RAM
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
HIS IceQ X turbo Radeon HD 6950 2 GB

The game was installed via steam on my D drive. The game wouldn't start after installed until I restarted the computer. after that, it's started up fine every time.

I'll post the config next time it freezes the computer, but it sometimes goes a long time before freezing, so I don't know when that will be.

Yes, please post the console.log file after this occurs again. We'd like to track down this issue. Some have had luck with a reinstall, or even a hard drive defrag, but these are rare case fixes.

Sorry for the issues.

Hmm The 6900 series cards do not like openGL in Torque. Another user mentioned the issue with Frozen Synapse, but we have the same engine. If you try DirectX compatibility mode in the launcher, it may clear it up. The other fix is to turn vsync off in the CCC.

I dunno if Radeon cards have a similiar thing to Nvidia cards but... Nvidia card owners have a software called Nvidia Control Panel that can be used to tweak graphical settings, ie turn things on or off, and such.

Would you have something like that for your Radeon card?

For Radeon cards it's called the Catalyst Control Center. I'm not sure what to suggest to tweak in it, though; switching DirectX on (or off if it's already been on when this problem happens) in the SPAZ launcher is probably the most promising thing to try.

Yes DirectX compatibility mode is a very good first stop and will likely resolve the issue.

I too am having the exact same problem. I tried the Direct X mode in the launcher, and it still froze up on me. Any suggestions or fixes for this yet?

Hi Striker,

can you send us a console.log file and a DXDiag to contact@spazgame.com

the console.log file should be taken after the game freezes for you. That may provide some info. Also, be sure your drivers are up to date.
